9) I have my own snorkel or my own rental car, why should I book this tour?
Hanauma bay is a very popular place and the parking lot is regularly full often and early. Security guards at the top entrance turn away hundreds of people each day from entering. Avoid the frustration and leave the driving to us. We can get into the park because we have our own commercial parking lot. Also, if you have your own gear, we offer a transportation only option.
10) Do I need to know how to swim to go snorkeling?
It's preferred that you are at least a beginner swimmer. The nice thing about this bay is that the water in the beginning part of the reef is only waist deep. If you are not a good swimmer or if this is your first time snorkeling, we recommend that you stay close to the shore where the water is not deep Also, if you don't want to snorkel, you can simply relax on the beach and enjoy one of the most scenic spots in the world.
11) What should I expect on this snorkel excursion?
After being picked up from you hotel, the ride to Hanauma bay will take approximately 30 minutes. At the park, you will be provided with your snorkel gear. You will then walk to the entrance, and there you will pay your entrance fee of $7.50. You will then be required to watch a 9 minute orientation video from the state of Hawaii. (not from our company) after viewing the video, you have the option of either walking down to the beach (5-6 minutes) or taking one their trams. They charge $1 down and $1.25 up. Also, day passes are available. This is a self-guided tour. 99% of Hanauma bay tours are self guided. The ones that offer personal guided tours charge around $75 per person.
